Discovering Château de Corcelles and the Beaujolais Crus

Heritage, Hillside Views, and Exceptional Wine Tasting

The Beaujolais region is far more than a vineyard—it’s a way of life. Between medieval estates, rolling hills and villages built from golden stone, every bend in the road reveals something new. Among its highlights, the Château de Corcelles and the northern Beaujolais crus offer one of the most memorable journeys. Here’s a full immersion into a day where heritage, landscapes and wine tasting blend seamlessly.

  • Château de Corcelles: Six Centuries of History in the Heart of the Vines

Rising above the surrounding vineyards, framed by medieval towers and quiet gardens, the Château de Corcelles feels like a storybook brought to life. Built between the 15th and 16th centuries, the estate combines defensive architecture, Renaissance touches and peaceful courtyards. Wandering through the vaulted halls, the chapel and the moat-lined exterior is a real trip back in time.

The visit continues into the impressive cellars—cool, dim and full of character. Here, the château presents its wines and the classic expressions of local Beaujolais terroirs, setting the tone for the crus that await just beyond. The tasting with Flore is a highlight—she brings the wines to life with passion, precision and a warm sense of hospitality, making the experience both educational and truly enjoyable.

  • The Crus of Beaujolais: A Patchwork of Distinctive Terroirs

The northern Beaujolais is home to 10 crus, each with its own personality. Three offer some of the most iconic views and tasting profiles. We decided to stop for a nice tasting at a family estate : Clos de la Roilette. A visit to Clos de la Roilette is not just about discovering outstanding Fleurie wines—it’s also about experiencing the charm of a small, family-run estate. The welcome is warm, genuine and unpretentious, reflecting the spirit of the region. You feel as if you’re stepping into someone’s home rather than a commercial winery, making the tasting all the more memorable.

Bordering the famous Moulin-à-Vent appellation, the domain produces cuvées that blend Fleurie’s floral delicacy with surprising depth and aging potential.Expect aromas of violet, cherry and subtle spices, with a silky texture that showcases just how expressive the Gamay grape can be when nurtured with care on exceptional soils.
